OLD
DELHI -After breakfast leave for a city
tour of Old Delhi. Visit-: Raj Ghat
where father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi
was cremated (1948 AD), Red Fort (1639-48)
built by builder of Taj Mahal –
Shahjahan and famous for its delicately
curved inlaid and marbled Royal Chambers,
Jama Masjid (India’s largest mosque
– built of red sandstone and white
marble by Emperor Shahjahan in the 17th
Century. Three sides of the great courtyard
are boarded by the delicate cloisters
leading out of three gate way the northern
way of the mosque leads on to this once
Imperial Avenue down which rode lavish
cavalcades.
NEW DELHI Visit-: Humayun Tomb(1565AD)
aptly called predecessor of Taj Mahal,
built by the wife of Humayun, Haji Begum
in the mid 16th century, this red sand
stone structure is considered to be
the predecessor of Taj Mahal. The structure
is one of the best examples of Mughal
Architecture. Humayu's wife is also
buried in tomb.
72 meter high Qutab Tower (12th Century
AD)- one of the most perfect tower in
the world, near by amidst the ruins
of Quwat-Ul-Eslam Mosque Stands the
iron pillar which does not rust and
has stood the vagaries of weather for
1500 years, India Gate (The country
memorial to the unknown soldiers), drive

TAJ
MAHAL: : Pm:visit The Taj Mahal the
inimitable poem in white marble. Built
over a period of 22 years by the Mughal
Emperor Shahjahan in 1630 for his
queen Mumtaj Mahal to enshrine her
mortal remain it is one of the seven
modern wonders of the world. Later.
AGRA FORD: The Agra Fort, built by
three Mughal Emperors starting from
the Akbar the great in 1565 AD, which
is master piece of design and construction.
With in the fort are a number of exquisite
building including the Moti Masjid
jahangir’s Palace, Khaas Mahal
and the Seesh mahal,1 Diwane-E-Khas
Musamman Burj, where emperor Shahjahan,
the fifth Mughal Emperor, died a prisoner.

COCHIN:
Kochi or Cochin is a beautiful city
in the state of Kerala. Situated in
the Ernakulam district, the city is
one of the main seaports in the country.
Kochi now comprises of Ernakulam,
Old Kochi and Kumbalangi. Also referred
to as the "Queen of Arabian Sea",
history of Kochi goes back to the
period, when the city was an important
spice trading route on the Arabian
coast. Kochi was the capital of the
Portuguese till 1530, and it remained
the seat of an eponymous princely
state for many centuries. Due to arrival
of people from different parts of
the world, Kochi has been a meeting
point of different cultures and traditions.
Now a major commercial centre of Kerala,

Day -8 Cochin / Thekkady

Periyar
The Periyar wildlife sanctuary is
another great excursion option from
Kumarakom. Spread in an area of 777
Sq Kms, the wildlife sanctuary is
known for its diverse flora and fauna.
Though a tiger reserve, the sanctuary
is more popular for elephants. An
elephant ride inside the sanctuary
adds a lot of thrill to the visit.There
are some tribal villages around Periyar,
which are worth a visit. The tribal
people are expert fishermen and farmers.
Some are still engaged in the traditional
practice of collecting honey of dangerous
hill bees. They have built interesting
tree dwellings.

with mangrove forests, paddy fields,
coconut groves. Kumarakom Sanctuary
has got beautiful rivulets and waterways.
The scenic Vembanad Lake surrounded
by mangrove forests and paddy fields
is one of the best places for bird
viewing inside the sanctuary. A large
population of feathered species along
with a pleasant climate make it a
great picnic spot in Kumarakom. The
avian population of the sanctuary
constitutes numerous resident and

After breakfast, board in Houseboat,
sightseeing and cruises to Alleppey.
Overnight at Houseboat. (Traditional
Kerala food will be served). The houseboats
are giant country Crafts, measuring
up to 80 feet length. It took great
skill and meticulousness to construct
these giants by tying huge planks
of jack wood together, without the
use of a single nail. Today these
are the most exciting tourism product
in India, which usually has one or
two bath rooms, an open lounge, deck,
kitchenette and a crew comprising

Kovalam is located at a short distance
of 16 kms from capital city of Trivandrum.
Other than its backwaters, Kovalam is

swimmers can enjoy by swimming deep
into the water. The beaches provide
spectacular views of sea and romantic
sunsets. The flashing lights of the
lighthouse at the southernmost beach
